Apple Authenticity

If a Apple certified refurbished mac is bought for someone can serial number be looked up on Apple support site does it show the mac as a certified mac or just a mac. The question I want to know is can someone find out if a mac was Apple certified refurbished ?

Once upon a time, any Apple-refurbished computer was re-numbered at time of refurbishment with a new serial number beginning with "R" or RM." About four years ago this stopped.


My MacBook Pro is a refurb bought in 2013 directly from Apple's web store and does not have the R/RM scheme. I just entered its serial number in Apple's support lookup page and it does NOT identify mine as a refurb.


The only way to be sure it to purchase directly from the Apple web store:
