Q: Printing emails with jpeg & PDF attachments

I receive a large number of emails each day, many with JPEG images included as attachments. I often need to print these emails to discuss with others.

Issue #1:

Since installing El Capitan, the mail message hides or misses some of the JPEG attachments, so they don't display in the printed version. Sometimes it displays some of the images, and sometimes it displays only a small portion of the first image. It almost always seems to show the slider in the side-bar on the printed version, as if Mail is taking a 'screenshot' of the email itself but misses the end of the message.

Issue #2:

This has occurred long before El Capitan, but is annoying and hasn't been fixed with any update so far.

When printing an email with multiple JPEG images, the pictures split across two pages, rather than there being a 'page-break' in between the individual pictures. This makes it very difficult for anybody being asked to look at the pictures on the printed pages, as it splits the picture over two pages. Is there any known solution for this?

Issue #3:

This issue has also been happening well before El Capitan. It is relating to printing emails with PDF documents attached. Often, these PDS's are displayed inline in the email (especially for one-page documents) but it doesn't show the entire page when printed. Is there any way that I can have the attachment show as an icon, not display inline? That way, the PDF only prints out if I choose to, by opening the attachment.

This is a work computer, so these issues are all fairly annoying and add a bunch of time to each of these tasks. Often, I have to save all of the attachments from the email and print them from Preview, and then copy the text of the email into a Word document and print that out, just so that I can present a professional looking email. Not great!

Hopefully someone can help with an answer.

Thanks in advance.

I have the same issue.  PDF, JPEG. Scroll bars print on the side.

Tried "forwarding" and printing that email.

It will still not print correct.  Frustrating.

Click around, highlighting, opening Email in a window,  and sometimes the Print will fix itself.

Seems like the email needs a few line returns after the attachments to print properly.

Add to that.. Illustrator files that show as Question Marks, yet Quick Look has no problems showing the contents.

Maybe it is just me, but not being able to confidently PRINT an Email seems like a MAJOR Bug.

Maybe resetting the icon cache will fix this one.

I would use OnyX to do that (I don't remember the awkward paths to find the required files to delete).

Interesting idea..   I do run Onyx from time to time.. and clear cache's..

but..  Right Click the ? mark and View by ICON works just fine. Shows the proper program's icon to open the file within the email body.

    It is a Preview/QuickView thing.

I'm tempted to try OUTLOOK as a short term solution..

    GASP..

Unfortunately I'm almost ready to do the same (change to Outlook). Isn't it ridiculous that Apple haven't come up with a fix for this - printing emails shouldn't be rocket-science! Perhaps choosing Apple as a work computer wasn't such a good idea....

I'm really keen to hear how the swap-over from Mail to Outlook goes - any chance you could let me know?

Come on Apple - sort your s*#t out!

Exactly the same happens here. Mail in El Capitán is unusable due to these 3 bugs.

We have the same issue here with printing emails for both machines on El Capitan. Extremely inconsistent. Sometimes works sometimes doesn't.

Also mail is very very slow which is causing major problems for our account handlers which deal with around 150-200 emails a day not including spam.

Seems doubtful any help will be forthcoming as this question has been on here nearly a year now.
