prices paid for battery replacement on MBP retina 15

Hi everyone,

The "service battery" warning came up on my battery (my MBP is mid 2012) and now it is holding only about 78% charge and according to apple, then battery should be replaced if it holds less that 80% charge. Cycle count is 660.

So I looked up on apple and it shows the battery service price is $199 plus tax... Apple - Support - Service Answer Center

So I take it to the apple store and request replacement/service whatever they want to call it.

I was told it would be $299 plus taxes and 5 business days (199+100 labor charge). They can also do it in store but that would also be 5 business days but that would cost $399... I did not understand that logic but whatever...

So I just want to know if anyone else has had their battery replaced out of warranty and how much did it cost?
