Can't connect to itunes or app store

I purchased the new apple tv today and it will not allow me to sign into the app store or itunes. I have verified my info multiple times over and signed in with other devices. I've been able to sign into icloud and the game center, but when I put in my info in Accounts > Itunes and App Store all I get is a warning that says "Cannot connect to iTunes Store".


Maybe the server is getting hit hard today because of the target sale or something. Any help would be appreciated.

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.

  1. Restart the Apple TV (Settings > System > Restart).
  2. Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
  3. Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
  4. Reset the Apple TV (Settings > System > Reset > Reset all settings)
  5. Restore the Apple TV (Settings > System > Reset > Restore)
