no serial number can't access app store
installed el capitan and can no longer access app store because the serial number is unavailable.

Did you ever have your logic board replaced? Apple will sometimes replace a logic board with a lack of a serial number. I don't know how they handle the serial number issue for the App Store in those events, but if you contact the App Store tech support they can tell you what to do.
