Is there anywhere in you can tell what bay the different drives are in on a Mac Pro 2010? I've looked in About This Mac, System Information and Disk Utilty and I don't see it in any of these places.
Mac Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1), Model 5,1/2.4 GHz/8 core (mid 2010)
The best way to do that is by process of elimination. You can boot off an external drive while you swap in a drive in each bay to see where it registers in Apple menu -> About This Mac -> System Report. In SATA you'll find more info about the bay you have swapped the drive in.

It does not seem to be in Disk Utility any longer.

About this Mac > System report > SATA/SATAExpress ...
... select the drive by Physical name, and at least in the 10.10 version, there is an entry called "Bay Name" with entries like "Bay 1"
If it has been removed, please post back.
Ahhh, I looked under System Report > Storage. It is indeed in the listings in the SATA/SATAExpress section. I couldn't believe it wouldn't be listed somewhere. Thanks much!!
It may just be an accident, but my drives are listed first Optical drives, upper then lower, then the drive bays in order 1 to 4 (front to back).
In Disk Utility, the drives are listed in order from top to bottom (for Internal) as they are arranged in the bays, from Bay 1 to Bay 4. Makes sense now that I think about it. Would have been nice to have included that one additional line of info though just to be sure. Thanks again for the help.
