Q: Windows 10 Boot Camp install won't let me install on BOOTCAMP partition on Mac Pro with SSD drive

Clean install of El Capitan, I have downloaded the Windows 10 x64 ISO and run Boot Camp installer. Once you get to the screen where you select a partition, the BOOTCAMP partition can't be installed on. If I format it and try again, still no luck. Anyone have experience with this problem or a workaround for this?

Thanks,

Patrick

Disk0s6 is your Windows EFI. What does diskutil list disk0 show?

I asked Microsoft support and they instantly denied any help since realised I'm Mac user. I contacted MS support 3 times, two chats, one call. No-go.

I do have new error now:

"Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation."

This is new! I'll check other forums.

If you have El Capitan, please disable SIP and test. This looks much better than previous errors.

    1. Boot into Local Recovery (Command+R).

    2. Start Utilities -> Terminal.

    3. Type csrutil disable in Terminal and press Enter/Return.

    4. Type csrutil status.

    5. Boot normally, and type csrutil status to confirm that all individual entries are still disabled.

I'm sorry I didn't wrote the error message correctly. (I didn't wrote it down and then tried to remember searching for similar msgs)

I did csrutil disable and checked next reboot so it is really disabled

precisely the error message is: "Windows could not prepare the computer to boot into the next phase of installation. To install Windows, restart the installation."

This message is much better tan partition-related messages. This is usually the case when BCD cannot be written to the disk. It can happen due to permission issues. Are you running the Windows installation using a Mac account which has Administrative rights to the Mac?

I do. It's my own mac, having only one user account there and it has admin rights.

Was this message generated after SIP was disabled and installation was retried? If yes, can you check if the main Bootcamp volume shows any files in the OSX Finder? Since it was further along, there should be logs.

kudos to Vizi0n, also thank everyone here, especially you Loner T. I tried to install windows 8, 8.1 and 10. All unsuccessfully. My solution was PRAM reset (cmd+option+r+p on mac boot, wait for second chime) when mac was in default state (only one partition not split !!!). Then I installed windows 8.1 as I was able to very first time. Important point was, after the PRAM reset, SSD (swap) was no longer visible in windows installer. Only disk0: 4 partitions:

    EFI

    Mac

    Mac Recovery

    OSXRESERVED with windows installer

    goodbye endless nights

The SMC Reset and NVRAM Reset can be done at any time to clear the partition entries. It is good to see it working you wanted it to. Now you get to set up back ups for both OSes.

    Hi

After an partition crash I've re created the Fusion drive :

This solved my question Solvedby Loner T on Oct 8, 2015 2:24 PM

If you are in Internet Recovery, start Utilities -> Terminal.

    1. Erase Macintosh HD volume - diskutil cs deleteVolume 0BD6E153-D4DC-4621-AD95-E0E36DDAFD87

    2. Erase Macintosh HD volume group - diskutil cs delete C0A7D32A-D1AF-4A74-8E5C-D11CEEBB8F8B

    3. Erase Macintosh SSD (this should be disk0, but verify) - diskutil eraseDisk jhfs+ SSD disk0

    4. Erase Macintosh HDD (this should be disk1, but verify) - diskutil eraseDisk jhfs+ HDD disk1

    5. Create a LV Group (the order of disks is critical SSD and HDD, in that order, please verify) - diskutil cs create OSX-MacintoshLVG disk0s2 disk1s2

    6. Create a new Logical volume - diskutil cs createVolume <UUIDFromStep5> jhfs+ "Macintosh HD" 100%

Osx installation is perfect but I can't install windows. The error :

"We couldn't create a new partition or locate an existinge one... for more information, see the Setup log files. "

Just clicked on format on partiton 5 (bootcamp) and next . This previous message stop the process.

got an Imac 27 late 2015 1TB fusion drive. Can you check the fusion drive. I want it as new.
