If you can't receive emails after upgrading to El Capitan, be sure to update to the latest OS X version--About the OS X El Capitan v10.11.1 Update.
How to update your Mac
Before updating, it's a good idea to back up up your Mac. Then use the Mac App Store to install the update.

I think I will get a computer nerd to come out and check my computer for me and maybe see if they can uninstall El Capitan (especially after reading the many problems that people are having) and revert back to Yosemite. I will let you know how I go. Thanks again.
