Problems with El Capitan

HELP I have stupidly downloaded El Capitan onto my iMac. Big mistake as I can no longer receive emails. I can receive mail on my iPad and iPhone so it is obviously El Capitan that is the problem. How can I fix this?

Hi CheesedOffApple,

Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities.

If you can't receive emails after upgrading to El Capitan, be sure to update to the latest OS X version--About the OS X El Capitan v10.11.1 Update.

How to update your Mac

Before updating, it's a good idea to back up up your Mac. Then use the Mac App Store to install the update.

After this, see the detailed troubleshooting advice in If you can’t send or receive email on your Mac.

Sincerely.

Hi Jeremy, Thanks for your reply, but I have done all that you suggested but still no luck. I think I will get a computer nerd to come out and check my computer for me and maybe see if they can uninstall El Capitan (especially after reading the many problems that people are having) and revert back to Yosemite. I will let you know how I go. Thanks again.
