Most likely grayscale enabled. Navigate to system preferences/ Accessibility/ uncheck invert colours or grayscale.
If you are really using Snow Leopard as your signature indicates, these settings are in System Preferences/Universal Access. Colour inversion can be turned on by accident if you happen to hit control-option-command-8.
