Downloaded music to ipod. Tells me i need wifi to play.

So I downloaded music from iTunes to my pc. Then synced the music to my ipod touch 5th generation with up to date ios. I keep getting told it requires wifi to play my music. Why? Everything on my ipod is synced thru the cable from my pc. If I do turn on the wifi it'll play but then it tries to play songs that are not on the ipod and it crashes.
