My macbook pro 2009 is having a video issue.

When I visit a large content website like eBay or some news sites my screen will occasionally go psychedelic and display lots of colored lines that resemble the actual screen display but it's not readable. The only way out is to do a power button shut down and restart. Any ideas of what to do about this. Love my 2009 macbook pro running snow leopard.
