My current startup disk is full, and this is causing problems.
What is the best way to instal a new system on a different startup disk and do I need to reinstall all my applications all over.
Any help and advice appreciated.

If you want to replace the internal, you can use SuperDuper or CarbonCopy Cloner to create a clone. Then format the new disk and either clone back or install fresh and use Setup Assistant to migrate.

If so, you can use the DVDs that shipped with your Mac, or newer disks you might have. You also posted in the wrong forum, this is for Yosemite 10.10.
