The app icons themselves cannot be changed in size. If the icons are large see if zoom is on iOS: Home screen icons are magnified or large - Apple Support

You are welcome. Display zoom is only on the iPhone 6 and 6plus. Use Display Zoom on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus - Apple Support
