No Disk found for osx installation

Macbook Pro A1278 did not start up and showed question mark folder image. I follwed the recommended procedures of pressing Command + R and repairing the disk on the left side bar. But later, when then the computer was restarted, the file came up again. The Disk Utility only showed OSX Base setup and was not able to repair the disk as before. I tried installing a new OSX but it says there is no disk to be located. Any help would be appreciated.
