Q: itunes wont show most recent backup

I just backed up myphone 5 by plugging it into itunes on my computer. I then plug in my new iphone 6s and try to restore from backup, it shows the most recent backup as 2012; it wont show the backup from today. help

If you have already set up your new device, you need to erase it to transfer from the old one.
