Redeeming OS X from Apple.com

I recently purchased a used MacBook (2007). I beefed up the RAM and replaced the hard drive with a solid state one. I understand that I can only run Mountain Lion on this computer. I purchased Mountain Lion on Apple.com but have not yet redeemed it. My question is: since the MacBook has no OS due to a new hard drive, can I redeem Mountain Lion from Apple.com on my iMac using an external hard drive? In other words, how can I get the OS X system on the blank hard drive of the MacBook?

Mountain Lion won't work on a 2007 MacBook; the newest OS which will is Lion 10.7.5. If it matters, you need to either install Snow Leopard on the MacBook first, or use the installer to put Lion on an external drive, or use a product such as DiskMaker X to create a Lion USB installer.

I'm sorry, I have a physical disk of Snow Leopard. How do I start up from the Snow Leopard disk on my new, blank hard drive?

On a 2007 MacBook, none; Mountain Lion is incompatible with it. For a compatible OS, connect the disk and restart the computer with the Option key held down.

OK, I just started up the Macbook from the external drive which has the original HD data. The new drive is empty of course.

How do I get all the data from the external hd to the newly installed hard drive.

Use the Disk Utility's Restore function, or a product such as Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper.

I used Carbon Copy Cloner to backup the old hard drive before replacing it with the new one. Now, the MacBook is started up from the external. I have access to Carbon Copy Cloner. Do you know the process for transferring the external data to the new hard drive?
