Formatting a compact flash card on a macbook

Hi there.

I need to format a Sandisk extreme pro 64gb compact flash card.

I have tried to do is on my Canon camera, however there appears to be a problem.

Therefore I want to reset the whole card to factory settings. I've been on disk utility and used the "erase" option but this has not worked.

Does anyone know of a way to reformat the card to original settings?

Thanks for your help.

First. You are in Macbook forum not Imac. The Sandisk card was original formatted exFat or Fat 32. Mac can read Fat 32 If you have a card reader for the Imac. You can install the Sandisk an use disk utilities in the utilities folder to formate the card. You can erase it and formate to ether mac OS extended or Fat 32. Go to disk utilities click on the card click on the erase and pick the formate. If your camera will not hold the pictures in the memory card with OS extended, Then you will need Fat 32
