I have a monitor hooked up to my late 2013 MBP to its Thunderbolt Port and then miniDP on the monitor. Works fine.
I'm trying to plug the same monitor with the same cord into my Early 2009 Mini and it fits. However, the monitor doesn't detect any signal from the Mini. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

What monitor and its resolution?
If it is a Thunderbolt monitor it will not work on the 2009 since that is a displayport, not a Thunderbolt port.
IIt's a dell u2415 I believe. I'm using a minidp to dp cable.
Make sure the plug is fully inserted into the Mini's mini displayport port.

Never used my Mac Mini with the mini DP yet. I'm wondering if somehow the computer only supports a miniDP to miniDP cable/connection rather than miniDP to DP?
The only difference between the mdp and dp is the size. They are electrically identical.
