I just bought a new iPad Air 1, and apparently it comes with some version of iOS7 (I'll get back to you with the exact version). Is it possible to update the iPad to iOS 8.4? I'm not sure I should go for the iOS 9.1 just yet....I've heard lots of users complaining about lag...
Is there anyone here running iOS 9.1 in the Air 1? Can you give me you`re 2 cents about it?

No Apple devices are allowed to downgrade. If your device supports a later version then you can only go to the latest (nothing in between)
I was afraid of that...:( Anyway, it's stupid to force your customers to upgrade to the latest version on a device just so you can download the apps you need.

The app developer define which minimal iOS is supported or compatible, not Apple.
FWIW, my "old" iPad 3rd generation is working fine with iOS 9.1

Seriously? Nice. Well, I guess I'll eventually have to update.
The reason that one cannot downgrade is security.
An example: let say Apple patched a security hole in the later version and if you can downgrade, you can then exploit that hole.
