The email address I used to create my Apple Id is no longer valid with the provider, so how do I delete this invalid email and replace it with my new email address?

The email address I initially used to create my Apple Id on my Iphone 5 is no longer valid with the provider. I don't remember the password so a link to reset the password won't be helpful because the email address isn't valid. Is there a way to replace this invalid email address with my new Apple Id 's email address?
