I bought a refurbished macbook with OS X yosemite. How do I find or reset the password?

There should have been a fresh install of the OSX.

I would ask the seller from where you bought it.

Do you have access to another mac plus some kind of firewire or thunderbolt or even a USB3 cable that would allow you to start up in target disk mode by hiding down the T key while starting up?

If you do then you can clone the system from the other mac onto your new mac. If I see your reply I will explain further, or there is plenty of advice on this forum once you have mounted the HD on your new computer on another system.
