iphone 6s mic volume low. any way to adjust it?

I just upgraded from my old iphone 4s to an iphone 6s plus. Brand new, not refurbished. My parents are both elderly and hard of hearing, but use hearing aids. When I call them from my new iphone, I have to practically shout for them to understand me, yet the old 4s worked ok. My sister also has an iphone(though I don't know which model) and says she has the same issue. This is a real problem for me, as I mostly use my cell phone, so that if they need to reach me in an emergency, unless I am at home with my landline, they cannot hear me very well at all. This could become a big problem in a crisis.

I tried to search apps, but the only things I can find seem to be more geared toward boosting the speaker on the iphone for playing music, not increasing the gain on the mic. Does anyone know of any such apps which could help this, and if not, is there any way to submit such a suggestion to Apple developers for a future update. I have searched online and I am NOT the only person who has had a low volume mic issue, and this has been an issue for a while, it seems.

I know of no such app to add sensitivity to the iPhone mic on a call. Sometimes a dirty mic port can muffle the voice input but since your phone is new it is not your issue. I'm afraid the iPhone sensitivity adjustment is not the solution. Since it is a problem on more than on device, it sounds to me the issue may be with the sensitivity of the hearing aids. Perhaps it would be easier to adjust the volume of those. Should you like, you can leave a suggestion for Apple at the Contact Us link at the bottom right of this page.

I see. You could try this article from Apple if you haven't already. Get help with the microphones on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

It could also be a mobile carrier's issue too. Sometime I receive calls that are a challenge to hear but it is not every call. I have received complaints that I'm too quiet to others with my 6s but that was on speaker phone....

I had a situation like this, and it turned out becasue the phone was on vibrate, the mic volume was also really low. When i changed to the regular setting the mic was restored also.

Just maybe, if you are also synced to a blue tooth device, take a care that there maybe a mic on the device and will sound faint if you speak to the phone instead of the device.
