My iPhone 5 keeps automatically syncing even though I have turned off the auto-sunc option.

I am trying to prevent my iPhone from automatically syncing when it is connected to iTunes. I have tried both the the device specific option and the option to prevent any device auto syncing and neither works.

Can anyone provide some advice to overcome this problem?
