I want to upgrade my imac.

Hello,
I have the Early 2006 Apple iMac Desktop with 17" Display MA199LL/A (1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo, 512 MB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, SuperDrive). My processor is 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo and my memory is 1GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM and my Hard drive is 163GB. It is running iOS 10.6.8
Please help me with anything or any ideas on how I can upgrade this mac or 'renovate' it in any way or what you would do if you were me since my mac has gotten slow.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Ideally the only things that can be done are, install a larger Hard Drive and up the RAM to 2GB.

A good 500GB Hard Drive will run you about $50 US + instalation labor $___? if you can not work on it yourself.

A 2GB RAM kit will run you about $20 US.

The downside to spending any money on it this late in the game, is that you can not upgrade it beyond 10.6.8 and use newer programs.

That is not a lot of money compared to the price of a new or newer iMac, but at this point it might be best to keep that money and start saving up for a newer model.
