Q: Wrist Detection Malfunctioning

I've been using my new Apple Watch for a couple days, and I just noticed that Wrist Detection doesn't work well sometimes. My watch will still be automatically unlocked when I unlock my iPhone even when the watch isn't on my wrist. Anyone has the same problem?

Apple Watch, Other OS, null

    Now it always unlock when I unlock my iPhone when it's not on my wrist.

    Is there anything I can do before taking it to the store?

    Hi

    On your iPhone, open the Watch app and go to:

    - My Watch > Passcode - check that Passcode is turned on.

    - My Watch > General > Wrist Detection - check that Wrist Detection is turned on.

    If both of these are already enabled, try disabling and re-enabling them.

    It may then help to restart both your iPhone and your watch. Turn both devices off first, then restart your iPhone before restarting your watch:

    - To turn your watch off: press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off slider; drag it to turn off;

    - To turn it on: press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.

    Tried. No hope.

    I've even tried resetting the entire watch and set it up as a new one, still no hope.

    I should probably take it to the store for an exchange.

    If you contact Apple Support, mail-in service may be available. Otherwise, certainly make a Genius Bar reservation with a view to having your watch checked under warranty.
