My iPhone 6s Plus will not automatically back up.

Plugged in to the PC ( Windows 10 ) and Wi Fi is on ok. The new phone which replaced an iPhone 6 has never automatically backed up to the Cloud. All settings have been checked. There is 4.66G available. A visit to the Genius Bar failed to solve the problem. I even tried re-installing iTunes and resetting passwords. In iTunes 9.1 Automatic back up is selected however, the phone just backs up to the computer. Thank you for reading this question. Any advice will be gratefully accepted.

Have you gone into the iPhones iCloud settings and turned on iCloud Backup? iCloud backups will run over wifi when you're iPhone is connected to a charging cable so it doesn't matter what the iTunes settings are and you don't need to be connected via cable to iTunes for iCloud backup.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, all that has been checked. If I select Back up now on the phone, estimated time remaining starts at around 11 minutes and blows out to around 18 mins & then times out. Very strange.
