    A pop up came on my Safari and it wouldn't go away.

    It kept asking me to pay $100, claiming that I have broken the law and must pay within 24 hour or my apple id would be locked down. I restarted the phone but the problem persisted. My Safari was basically inoperable.

    So I went to settings clear browser history and removed the cookies and put the popup options to always block and after restarting the problem was gone. However, I don't know if the safety of my information and my apple id was compromised in the process?

    Any such popup message will be a scam. Do not interract with those messages. You have followed correct procedure with the issue.
