Setting screen brightness for photo printing

HI,

I'm sending some photos to a lab and need to set the screen brightness between 60 and 120 candela, to edit the images in Aperture, so the prints don't come out too dark. I have read that the iMac screen doesn't go this low. Is this correct? The screen brightness slider has no markings on it, so I don't know.

does anyone know what the lowest setting on the slider represents, or where I should put it to get the required brightness?
