Hello ronenhaim,
Nice of you to try to help your neighbor out in this way. The link below provides information for your friend to manage and edit the information associated with his or her Apple ID. I'll also include a link to the Apple ID Support team if s/he needs to get more help with the security settings for the account.
Learn how to add, change, or delete the different types of email addresses that you can use with your Apple ID account.
When you create an Apple ID, you enter the primary email address as your Apple ID. Your primary email address is your Apple ID. Sign in with your Apple ID and primary email address to use Apple services like iTunes and iCloud.
Your primary email address is also the contact email address for your account. Check your primary email address regularly because it receives email that you need to manage your Apple ID account. Before you can use a new or updated Apple ID, you need to verify it as directed in a verification email that Apple sends to that address.
Follow these steps to change your Apple ID.
Many of us have more than one email address that friends and family use to reach us. Add an email address that you commonly use to your Apple ID account, so people can easily find and communicate with you on Apple services like FaceTime, iMessage, GameCenter, and Find My Friends.
To add or edit an alternate email address, follow these steps:
- Go to My Apple ID.
- Select Manage your Apple ID and sign in.
- To add an alternate address:
- Select Add Email Address, then enter your alternate address. Apple will send a verification email to that address. Didn't receive the email?
- Follow the instructions in the email to verify the address.
- To edit an alternate address:
- Select Edit next to the address, then enter the new address. Apple will send a verification email to that address. Didn't receive the email?
- Follow the instructions in the email to verify the address.
- To delete an alternate address, select Delete next to the address
A rescue email address helps secure your Apple ID account against unauthorized access. Having a rescue email address is optional but recommended. It receives all security-related Apple ID email, including the email needed to reset your password or security questions. If you don't have a rescue email address, you'll need to contact Apple Support to reset your security questions if you ever forget them.
You need to answer your security questions in order to add or edit a rescue email address. Follow these steps to add or edit a rescue email address:
- Go to My Apple ID.
- Select Manage your Apple ID and sign in.
- Select Password and Security.
- You might be asked to answer one or more security questions before continuing.
- If you see a list of three security questions, your account has the option to use a rescue email address.
- To add a rescue email address:
- Select Add Email Address, then enter your rescue email address. Apple will send a verification email to that address. Didn't receive the email?
- Follow the instructions in the email to verify the address. If you don't verify the address, security-related email continues to go to your primary address.
- To edit a rescue email address:
- Select Edit next to the email address, then enter the new address. Apple will send a verification email to that address. Didn't receive the email?
- Follow the instructions in the email to verify the address. If you don't verify the address, security-related email continues to go to your primary email address.
- To delete a rescue address, select Delete next to the address.
If your account has less than three security questions you can’t add a rescue email address. If you set up two step verification, you have a notification email address, not a rescue email address.
Account notifications are sent to your notification email address. This email address is automatically added to your Apple ID account in certain circumstances:
- If you have a rescue address and turn on two step verification, that address automatically becomes your notification address. With two step verification, you don't need a rescue address.
- If you provide an email address with your shipping information when you purchase from the Apple Online Store, that address automatically becomes your notification address.
Your primary address receives a copy of all Apple ID email that Apple sends to your notification address. If you have a notification email address and want to edit it, follow these steps:
- Go to My Apple ID.
- Select Manage your Apple ID and sign in.
- To edit a notification address:
- Select Edit next to the address, then enter the new address. Apple will send a verification email to that address. Didn't receive the email?
- Follow the instructions in the email to verify the address.
- To delete a notification address, select Delete next to the address.
Apple email related to your Apple ID account always comes from appleid@id.apple.com. If you receive suspicious email, learn how to identify fraudulent email.
Learn more about how to update your other Apple ID account information.
When you make certain updates to your Apple ID, we’ll send you an email to help you complete the update. For example, you might have reset your password, reset your security questions, or added a new email address to your account. If you can't find the email after we send it, these steps can help.
We'll send the email from "Apple," so you can quickly search for it. If it isn't in your inbox, check your folders. If a spam filter or email rule moved the email, it might be in the Spam, Junk, Trash, Deleted Items, or Archive folder.
If you're looking for a password reset email, make sure you're checking the correct email inbox. It will either be your primary Apple ID email address or a separate rescue or notification email address that you added to your account.
If you're looking for a verification email, you can sign in to your Apple ID account page and review all the email addresses you have on file, including the one that you're trying to verify. If the email address is incorrect, you can update it and send another verification email.
To resend a reset email, repeat the steps to reset your password or security questions, and we'll send an email to your rescue or primary Apple ID email address.
To resend the verification email, sign in to your Apple ID account page. Click Resend next to the email address that you want to verify, and we'll send an email to that address.
If you're not getting any email, you might need to contact your email service provider for help. You can also use these steps to get help receiving email at OS X Mail or an iCloud email address.
Go to System Status and see if Apple ID is available. If you still can't find the reset email or verification email, contact Apple Support.
