Q: iCloud restore needs password for old expired Apple ID.
I am upgrading from my iPad 3 to an iPad Pro and am repeatedly getting requests to validate an email address which I used to have but which has now expired (Apple no longer recognizes it as a valid Apple ID). How do I resolve this, any ideas?

It sounds like you are being prompted to enter information for an old Apple ID. Take a look at this article about that kind of an issue:
