iPhone 6 Plus 48hr login - Keyboard inactive

My iPhone 6 Plus requires passcode entry every 48hrs - as expected.

BUT although the keyboard is displayed (I have a full passcode, not just a 4 or 6 digit code), the screen is inactive. All I'm able to do at that point is to reboot the phone.

Anyone else experienced this? And know how to fix

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 9.1
