I have my main hard drive running Snow Leopard showing Property List file issues that cannot be repaired. Is the necessary to do? I would prefer to repair these than re-install everything from scratch.
I have seen software such as PrefSetter. This tool seems more for the experienced developer.

I deleted what plist files I could - the others, which seem to be part of software have been left untouched. Unsure of the issues.
Ignore those .plist files that can't be repaired and upgrade your OS to 10.11.1 and come into the modern world.
Hhave you restarted after deleting the .plists?
