IPad Air 2: Not connecting to WiFi automatically

I find myself often going to 2-3 different Starbucks in my neighborhood Pretty regularly. They all have the same WiFi access point name; that being "Google Starbucks". My WiFi settings are as follows:

  1. Ask to join networks: OFF
  2. Google Starbucks
    1. Auto-Login: ON
    2. Auto-Join: ON

Whenever I get to a Starbucks I have to do the following to connect 100% of the time to connect. If I simply open Safari it tells me I have no internet connection and the WiFi icon at the top left is off.

  1. Tap Settings
  2. Select WiFi
  3. Tap on the "Google Starbucks" connection

Maybe I'm expecting this to work differently however when I open my iPad at a Starbucks shouldn't it automatically connect to the Google Starbucks WiFi network and then open a browser page where I can "accept" the connection? Isn't that what "Auto-Login" and "Auto-Join" are for?

I have tried with Ask to join networks: ON and it makes no difference.

Note that I have no issues at home. When I turn my iPad on it connects to my WiFi automatically.

Thanks a bunch.
