How to stop activity monitor from auto-starting upon boot up

When my macbook pro starts up, activity monitor also launches.

I would like to prevent this behavior, as it is most annoying. Thanks.

How are you closing Activity monitor? If you want it closed, select File -> Close... do not click the red dot in the corner of Activity monitor's window.

  1. Check System Preferences -> Users & Groups.
  2. Click on Login items.
  3. If Activity monitor is listed, click on Activity monitor and then click the '-' button at the bottom of the list.
