How do I download a new copy of Safari for OS X El Capitan?

The application "Safari" is not open anymore; technically safari is open in that I can't close it; OS X El Capitan 10.11.1, iMac

Since Safari is part of OS X, reinstall OS X to install it again.


It might be helpful if would download and install EtreCheck from http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck


Run it and post the report here. After analyzing the snapshot of your Mac provided in the EtreCheck report, someone here might be able to suggest alternative solutions to your problem.
