My phone wouldn't exit off an app this morning so I decided to lock my phone, when i did the screen went black and has not responded to anything. I've tried to shut it off and reset it and nothing works, what do i do? it's now unresponsive..

Do you mean that you powered it off when you say you "locked" it?
When you reset the device did you hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time for up to 30 seconds? If not, try it again, and hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds).
