Why is my wifi speed showing as slower on my 6 plus than on my iPad Air ?

I'm using Ookla Speedtest on Virgin media. The IPad Air shows as 70 plus Mbps, and the Iphone 6 plus only shows about 50 Mbps. any ideas why? Thanks in advance

the ipad being the bigger device would have a bigger antenna which would mean a better wifi signal with less resend lost data packets which could explain the difference
