Dock - Custom Folders
Apple OS X let Mac users place custom folders on the Dock. El Capitan and previous make this an easy drag and drop action. Select a folder in Finder, then drag and drop the target Finder Folder into the Dock's right end (beside Downloads).
Next customize the Dock's new Alias Menu. Right click the Alias icon to select various Menu options. By default (2015-Nov-28), Os X will set click response as follows: Sort by, Name; Display as, Stack; and, View content as, Automatic... a rather disorganized shadowed hover-box appearance. Our intense workflow prefers the following selections: Sort by, Kind; Display as, Folder; and, View content as, List.
We now have a custom Alias Menu in the Dock. Fly-out function allows smooth, fast, efficient workflow, at least in appearance.
How can we fit this Menu system to our work environment? This visually appealing interface is very useful for a static workflow. However, for a dynamic Desktop and Finder environment, this interface is very limited where Menu construction and adaptation occurs. Limitation is confined to the absence of two features. - Alias links while effective as a Finder resource, are ignored in the Dock context;
