Dec 28, 2015 1:52 PM in response to Barry Hemphillby wibblegrace,Hi Barry,
I have exactly the same issue, this time with 2 iPhone 5s, and a nexus 5x.
I want to transfer video from those devices to the newly acquired macbook pro retina to use iMovie.
I always thought that bluetooth worked across all devices. Can you advise what the significance of protocols, whatever they might be, are?
thanks,
steve

Dec 28, 2015 1:55 PM in response to wibblegraceby ChrisJ4203,You can see the profiles the iOS devices use here. iOS: Supported Bluetooth profiles - Apple Support
iOS devices have never supported Bluetooth file transfer. You will not be able to pair the iPhone to the Nexus for file transfer.

Dec 28, 2015 2:40 PM in response to wibblegraceby ChrisJ4203,Excuse me, I misunderstood the first sentence of the post. As far as the MacBook Pro, it will not pair, but you can use AirDrop to transfer, if the MacBook pro is using the correct OS X. Use AirDrop to send content from your Mac - Apple Support
It requires the Bluetooth be turned on, but not paired. I don't believe you will be able to connect the Nexus and the MacBook via Bluetooth for the reasons stated earlier.
