I cannot get AirPlay working in any form on my 2009 mbp with fully updated El Capitan. There is no icon on menu bar and when I use QT and chose AirPlay inside the app I get image but no sound. I have also tried to set the output to the Apple TV but I can get no sound, and once I start playing in QT (w AirPlay on) it goes back to outputting to built in speakers (although with no sound actually being output).
My friends iPhone manages to stream to the ATV, so there is nothing technically wrong with network or devices...
So, my AppleTV 3 is basically just an expensive paper weight at the moment. Do you plan to fix this, and maybe start to test your products before release?
EDIT: Sound codec is AAC, which is supposed to be supported...
