deleting iMessages in El Capitan

I have El Capitan on both my iMac and my MBP. The glaring difference between the two is that when I manage my iMessages on my iMac, the iMac wants me to confirm the deletion of each message. My MBP allows me to hit the x button to delete the message and move on. I have yet to be able to find a setting in the preferences that controls this.

It would be great if I could bulk delete, but the system asking for a confirm for each box is asking a bit much.

Can anyone help me find out why they are different and how to turn this on and off?
