Q: El capitan Photo crash while generating calendar

Hello

I have been using Photo today to build the family 2016 calendar. It has been crashing (color wheel, and force quit, and sending reports to Apple) a few times.

Once finished, I went to buy the print, and it crashed again while generating it, at page 1.

I cannot see my order in my account , and now I am wondering: has it been taken or not ? is it safe (after reboot etc, and making sure it does not crash again) to do it again

or I better call assistance tomorrow to cancel the order ?

anybody had this before? how di you solved it ?

Thanks

OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

As a test launch Photos with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos, create a calendar  and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?  Also try to create a PDF of the library. Can you?

If the test library works as it should repair your main library according to these instructions from this Apple document: Repair Your Library.

    Repair your library

    1. If you experience problems with photos in a library, Photos can try to repair it. If problems persist, you can also restore your library from a Time Machine backup.
    2. Important: You should back up your photo library before repairing your library.
    3. If Photos is open, choose Photos > Quit Photos.
    4. Press Option-Command and double-click the Photos icon in the Applications folder (or click the Photos icon in the Dock)..
    5. The Repair Library window opens
    6. Click Repair to rebuild your photo library.

Note: If you use iCloud Photo Library with Photos, this action will cause Photos to re-upload all your pictures. (from Fix missing or incorrect thumbnails in Photos - Apple Support)

Thanks I will try. It has been quite unusable, crashing every 10 minutes or so.

I managed in the end to finish and send to print the calendar.

As well as do a few other things, between crashes.

I will first backup my library and do the step you recommend

I have the exact same problem on my Mac Pro with completely updated El Capitan. When attempting to purchase the calendar, after about 10 seconds into the process it hangs indefinitely and I have to force quit out of it. This is what I've tried:

    1. PRAM reset

    2. Repaired Photos library

    3. Purchasing in safe mode

    4. Exporting to PDF (successfully)

    5. Removing and re-entering my billing and shipping information in iCloud and on my Mac

    6. Creating a brand new Photos file and starting from scratch

    7. Tried it many times over a 10 hour period

    8. Can submit a project for purchase on my MacBook Pro Retina. Seems Photos on my Mac Pro is just broken

    9. Making a calendar with only one picture in the entire thing

    10. I submitted a picture for print. That went through...process time seemed short enough but it still hung up in the end and I still had to force quit out of it, even though the order succeeded.

    11. Signing out of iCloud on m Mac and then signing back in (now Photos appears to be re-backing up 100 gigs of pics again. LOL)

I can't think of anything else to try, and I'm not starting fresh with OSX from scratch. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Because Photos is an integral app in OSX, I don't believe that it can be deleted and reinstalled without reinstalling the OS.
