Macbook Pro (mid-2010) can't increase resolution on 30" Cinema HD Display beyond 1280.

I use a mid-2010 MacBook Pro with Yosemite 10.10.5, and a NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 512 MB video card and 8 gigs RAM. I hooked up a 30" Cinema HD Display using a DVI dual link adapter to a mini display port and plugged in the USB cable from the Display to the computer. I am still unable to increase the resolution of the display beyond 1280 x 800. I've tried unplugging, rebooting, and clearing PRAM. Any ideas? Thanks.
