Duplex Printing Problems w/ HP LaserJet 1022

Hello everyone. I have a MacBook Pro that I just updated to OS X El Capitan Version 10.11.1. I used to have a PC that allowed me to print on both side (duplex) with the HP LaserJet 1022. However, when I switched over to a MacBook, the printing options does not allow for duplex printing. I had to install a driver through the app store with HP Printer Software. Is there something else that I can use to have duplex printing? It seems like a lot of other people are having this issue and I do not want to buy another printer. Thanks for your help.
