Messages App Won't Open

I just got my Mac the other day, and the messages app has been working just fine since I got it. As of a little while ago, the messages app won't open. It has a notification for a message, but when I click on the icon (either from the desktop or from the launchpad), all it does is bounce up and down, but never actually opens. It won't open from Finder either. Please help me out!
