The ATV4 only pairs headphones/speakers and Mfi controllers. No iPad, no iPhone no keyboards

Use Bluetooth accessories with your Apple TV (4th generation) - Apple Support
There are many devices and accessories that you can pair with your Apple TV, like Bluetooth headphones,
speakers, and game controllers. Some devices, including Bluetooth keyboards, aren't compatible.
You can use your iPhone to setup the TV. you cannot Pair it for anything else over bluetooth though. Same for iPad. Keyboards are not supported.
Headsets and speakers are supported.
FYI, the Siri remote that comes with the ATV 4 uses Bluetooth.
If you (like most of us) want support for iPad/iPhone and BT Keyboards for both usability and security reasons, please provide feedback here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/appletv.html
Do you think something like this would work? I just need an el-cheapo solution for surround...
It's wireless surround bluetooth speakers from Vizio for $180.... It's one of Amazon's most popular surround speaker systems. This would make a delightful Christmas gift for my little family...!

I guess along with this question is the related question - does the Apple TV 4th generation do the Surround 5.1 decoding and can it send the info to the various speakers here? Or will I surely need an Airplay 5.1 channel decoder?
It looks like it should work.
Apple TV does support not only Dolby Digital 5.1, but also Dolby Digital Plus 7.1. Of course the source content must have those audio channels. i.e a Youtube Video might not have the channels so you will only get Stereo from it.
Supported Audio formats:
HE-AAC (V1), AAC (16 to 320 Kbps), protected AAC (from iTunes Store), MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3, and 4), Apple Lossless, AIFF, and WAV; Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital Plus 7.1
hi Phil,
I greatly appreciate your response. But I'm looking to hear from someone who has maybe been there, done that. I don't want to shell out $200 unless I know a little bit better. Has no one done this?!
I'm a little more than nervous that it will only work for stereo headsets and stereo speakers. Rather than surround get ups.
