Low Memory crash

I have an iPod touch 4th gen that repeatedly crashes when using Safari on different websites. The iPod will quit Safari, and then go back to the home screen.

I have factory reset, cleared history etc in Safari and quit all apps other than Safari. With a factory reset prior to restoring, it still crashed when using Safari. Usage and diagnostics always gives a low memory alert. There is 3gb of free space on it

It otherwise works fine!

Any recommendations?

If you successfully restored (went through all steps without error) to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store..
