Top of line Macbook Air struggling with Logic 9

Hi guys,

I have a mid-2012 Macbook Air 11" with top of the line specs:

- 1.9GHz dual-core i7

- 8GB 1600MHz RAM

- 256GB SSD

I find that when I'm using Logic 9, after about 20-30 minutes with about 5 tracks running with a few VST plugins running it starts to slow down significantly (a couple of seconds delay on actions) and gets very hot. from my understanding, I should have plenty of RAM, but I was wondering if I'm being let down by my CPU, or whether the computer should be performing better.

If necessary, I'm looking at purchasing a Macbook Pro 13" with the following specs:

- 2.7GHz dual-core i5

- 8GB 1866MHz RAM

- 256GB SSD

This is a significant investment for a faster processor with RAM that is slightly faster. Can I expect to see a clear improvement in performance with Logic 9? Will I be able to use the program for a few hours with up to 10 tracks using VSTs and vocal recording?

Many thanks in advance,

Dale
