Also, another question for those of you in the know. If you purchase the OS for a desktop mac do you get to automicaly use it on, say, your laptop? Or do you need to purchase another one for the laptop?

Hi,

According to Mactracker, the 2,2 Macbook Pro (15 inch introduced 2006) can be upgraded to OS X 10.7.5 (Lion).

As for the second question, that is something you should check with Apple. (in other words, I don't know😝)

Lion OSX and newer will have drivers for all Macs so it can be installed on a desktop or notebook. Gray installation disks are model specific so they are NOT interchangeable among different Mac models.
