iPhone 5s drops wifi and starts using Data on sleep

With in few minutes from the time the phone sleeps, WIFI is disconnected and the phone starts using 3G. There is no easy way to diable and enable 3G Data as well. I see this issue reported all around. IS apple being ignorant and is favoring wireless providers?

I have disabled wifi assist, reset the phone and all other stuff.

I recently spoke to a support agent in India and he didnt seem to understand the issue at all. Will wait till the next iOS update and if it does not get fixed, I am dumping iphone for ever.

Finally any of you know how to fix it?

Take a look at this Apple Support article:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204051

Reset your network settings.

Settings - General - Reset - Reset Network Settings

Reset your device. This won't delete your data stored on the phone.

  • Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button
  • Press and hold on the Home button
  • Keep holding both buttons until the display turns off and back on with Apple logo on it.

Alternatively, you may go to Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings
